Hodophile (Greek origin): lover of roads or better ‘one who loves to travel’

1. Description

A stroll led by a local expert guide is your chance to experience the island’s natural beauty and scenery, meet welcoming locals, be informed about island’s history and land.

We depart from Vigla hotel around 9.30 am and head to the jewelry of the island that dates back to the 8th century, monastery of Hozoviotissa. We are warmly welcomed by the monks living there all year and offer us traditional raki and loukoumi. Time to admire the memorable view over the ‘Big Blue’.

Our next stop is at Agios Georgios Valsamitis, a church used to be one of the well-known oracles of ancient Greece. Upon moving on to the south part of the island, we are going to enjoy another landscape, discuss and drink coffee in the shadow of a nice restaurant.

Discover the well-preserved ancient Agia Triada (the Holy Trinity) Tower. It is protected by the World Heritage Convention of Unesco.

We’ll continue with a swim at a beach chosen by the guide, based on the weather. Afterward, we’ll proceed to Chora for a village tour, exploring the windmills, Loza, and the Castle. Our day concludes with a meal at one of the traditional taverns in the village before returning to our starting point.
