Starting from the port of Piraeus on 25/11/2025, we set off on a rich and fulfilling sevenday exploration across Northern Greece.
We visited the Holy Monastery of Panagia Eikosifoinissa and walked through the ancient city of Philippi. We paid homage at the Baptistery of Lydia, where the Apostle Paul began spreading Christianity in Greece and Europe.
We admired the impressive Holy Monastery of Panagia Archangeliotissa and met the warm and welcoming Fr. Nektarios. We wandered through the Pomak villages and experienced firsthand the function and interior decoration of a Muslim mosque.
We strolled through the Old Town of Xanthi, visiting the house of the great Manos Hadjidakis and the remarkable Shadow House of Triantafyllos Vaitsis. In Porto Lagos, we crossed the wooden bridge over the waters of Lake Vistonida to venerate St. Nicholas and Panagia Pantanassa.
Scents and colours welcomed us in the bustling market of Komotini, where Muslim and Christian traditions coexist in harmony. We photographed the striking lighthouse of Alexandroupolis and continued towards Orestiada.
From Orestiada, Maria and Apostolos guided us across the border into Turkey, where we visited Karaağaç, admired the Selimiye Mosque and strolled along the lively openair market of Edirne.
In Didymoteicho, we observed the restoration works of the Bayezid Mosque, and in Soufli we toured the Tsiakiris Silk Art Museum.
Our final day was dedicated to the beautiful Nymph of Thermaikos, Thessaloniki! Katerina guided us through the White Tower, St. Demetrios cathedral, the Castles, the Eptapyrgio, the Rotunda, and the Kamara (Arch of Galerios) and in the afternoon we enjoyed a classic Thessaloniki stroll along the seafront, Aristotelous Square and beyond.
At every stop, in every place, we had the joy and privilege of tasting the gastronomic creations of each region!
